Not many  people can say that they are doing a job that like my photography is also their passion and drive, but I can. More than 28 years on I can still say that I awake happy, refreshed and looking forward to the day ahead and every day brings different things.

My interests in photography go back to my school days and helping a neighbour build his attic darkroom and then seeing the magic of  that first print appear in the developer under the red light, I was sold and I knew then what I wanted to do. It wasn't long after that that I was a photography student  of Napier in Edinburgh.

Before becoming self employed in 1993 I worked extensively with AV, theatre and video businesses incorporating my photography and video skills to produce content for company reports, conference shows along with  videos for BP, Audi, Scottish Sports Personality of the year and others.

​

Early in my self employed career I joined the Master Photographers Association (MPA) and then joined the Scottish Region Committee where I served as Secretary, Treasurer and Regional Chairman while also serving on the board of directors for the MPA. My interest was to improve the overall standard of photography across the UK, creating a regulated industry that the public could have trust in, as as happened in other countries, but sadly no government has had the political will to make this happen.

Today I might be photographing arts and crafts, tomorrow it's hard hat time photographing on a construction site, the next day a ship launch and then photographing a wedding at the weekend and who knows what next week will bring, a family portrait, hotel room interior photography or maybe I will head out for the Scottish hills for some landscape photography.
